History

WHH started out with 6 of us riding on bikes which we wouldn't touch now! We built up to a massve 10 miles in one go before heading down to L'Ardechoise to our first massive 80 mile ride over two days.

Subsequently in 2008 "The Elders" cycled the first 325 mile London to Paris ride. This was followed on 2009 by another L2P with 25 of us riding. In 2010 41 of us rode from London to Paris, which was followed by 3 Cities & then the tough one - Geneva To Nice across the Alps

Since then we ride every year usually in France but have also appeared on TV on How To Look Good Naked as well as on BBC Radio Essex & in Cycling International

We Hate Hills & Wind are not a club or a formal team, just a bunch of blokes who are enjoying getting out at the weekend to try to stay a bit fit, get some fresh air & some fun, followed by some breakfast !! BUT we do hate hills & wind when cycling !!

Joining the team is by invitation only. This may seem cliquey but has previously ensured that we aren't & that there is good banter within the team. There are no heroes, no racing, an ethos of sticking together for safety and practical reasons when we ride. PLUS you must be able to give take & enjoy plenty of banter.

We are not a normal cycling team, we were once described as a social team who does a bit of cycling, which is a pretty good description. So if you want to race.or stare at tarmac sadly we are not for you.
